Biography
Bev was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. Early on, she fell in love with both opera and mystery, which made her the only nine-year-old on the block listening to Rigoletto while reading Agatha Christie. Her nose stayed glued to a book during her school years, with the novels of Jean Plaidy, Victoria Holt, and all the great British mystery writers being her favorites.

A yen for faraway times and places led Bev to study history at the University of Louisville where her professors imparted research skills that she uses to this day. Medical school followed. A career in public psychiatry gave her a good perspective on why people behave as they do, in anger as well as love.

Bev now combines many of her interests as a full-time writer. In addition to her Baroque Mystery Series from Poisoned Pen Press, she writes short stories set in a variety of times and places. Two of her stories have been nominated for the Derringer Award. She has also been nominated for the Kentucky Literary Award for Fiction (2005).

Bev is a member of the Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, and the Historical Novel Society. She lives in Louisville, Kentucky with husband Lawrence and a sociopathic beagle named Carlo.
